The gem show at Quartzsite is heady stuff for anyone who likes to gawk at rocks, gemstones and jewelry. There are people with tents of all sizes hawking everything from barrels of rocks to vases made from solid rock. Some of it is pretty neat, being handmade by the artist. Much of it is things like large pieces of transparent amber imported from around the world. And much of it is simply purchased carved products unpacked from cartons originating in China and neighbor states. This post is just a very quick glimpse caught on a flyby on my way from town.

This is the back end of the main gem show area, shot from a bridge overpass. Vendor tents are in the foreground, while show-associated RVs are further back on the right.

Some tables with cut stones and bags of pebbles, with some large geodes further back.

I find the geodes impressive, but I've never owned a home where it would "fit in" if you know what I mean.

The street side of the sales area. Both sides of the street are busy, and the tent displays go a hundred yards back on either side.

This is more my speed. It reminds me of my basement. There are plenty of junque vendors also, ranging from true collectibles to dumpster fodder.
